GREETINGS!

Welcome,
I’m Hà Nhi, president and research lead of the Oberlin Global Feminist Collective. This project began with a simple but urgent question: What can feminist movements learn from each other if we truly listen across cultures?

My journey into feminist research and activism began in Vietnam, where I founded the Vietnamese Female Students Association, uniting young women to advocate for reproductive rights, gender equality, and access to education. Those conversations - from cramped dorm rooms to noisy cafés - revealed something to me: while the challenges women face are deeply shaped by local history, culture, and politics, they are also strikingly connected across borders.

From the grassroots organizing of Vietnamese students to the street protests of Seoul, from Latin America’s fight for reproductive justice to the quiet resilience of indigenous women in Africa, I’ve seen how struggles for gender equality share common roots - yet grow differently in every soil.

This collective exists to create a meeting ground for those stories, strategies, and visions. Here, we bring together scholars, activists, and community leaders to exchange knowledge, challenge assumptions, and co-create solutions that dismantle inequality while honoring cultural diversity.

I invite you to explore our research, join our dialogues, and see how collective knowledge can fuel real-world change. Thank you for walking this path with us.

Our Story

Through years of grassroots advocacy, we saw a recurring gap: feminist movements across the world face similar structural barriers - patriarchal governance, gender-based violence, economic inequality - yet they rarely share tools, strategies, or culturally grounded perspectives with one another.

At Oberlin College, we set out to bridge that gap. We built a team of researchers, activists, and community leaders spanning Vietnam, South Korea, Latin America, France, Germany, and South Africa. Together, we launched a comparative qualitative study that not only documents how feminist movements operate in different contexts, but also integrates indigenous belief systems and local activism into a shared framework for global feminist analysis.

Our methodology blends academic rigor with activist accessibility:

  • Hosting 12+ expert panels, focus groups, and online dialogues with feminist leaders worldwide.

  • Collecting and analyzing qualitative data to identify transferable strategies and context-specific solutions.

  • Producing policy briefs, advocacy tools, and educational resources that inform both grassroots initiatives and international NGOs.

What began as a student-led project has become a growing global network committed to knowledge exchange, solidarity, and action. Our story is still unfolding - and we invite you to be part of writing its next chapter.
